Stop making it a national casualty: Kareena on her pregnancy

Kareena bashes the media for treating her different due to her pregnancy
18 Jul, 2016

No, Kareena isn't taking a break from Bollywood to have a baby, and she's tired of being asked that question.

According to Hindustan Times, the Bollywood actor is frustrated with all the speculations surrounding her career after hubby Saif Ali Khan confirmed rumours of her pregnancy.

The Ki and Ka actor is continuing with her shoot of the upcoming chick flick Veere Di Shaadi and believes that should neither be surprising nor a cause for anyone's concern: “I’m pregnant, not a corpse. And what maternity break? It’s the most normal thing on earth to produce a child. It is high time the media back off, and stop treating me any different than I ever was. Anybody who is bothered shouldn’t work with me... but my work goes on as is, like always. Stop making it a national casualty. We are in 2016, not in the 1800s. Probably, even at that time, people were way more civilized and normal than the way the media is behaving and speculating now.”

Around 2008, Kareena had lashed out at the paparazzi when her size zero figure was the talk of the town. She wanted them to stop making such a huge deal out of her body. This seems to be round 2.

“I’m just fed-up of people making it (her pregnancy) to be a death of some sort. In fact, it should be a message to a lot of people that marriage or having a family has absolutely nothing to do with my career,” added Kareena.

The actor is currently working in the Rhea Kapoor chickflick Veere Di Wedding that also stars Sonam Kapoor. Apart from that, the Heroine star has over 18 brand endorsement deals and will be shooting for the campaigns in the upcoming months. “It is great…," says Kareena about these endorsements, adding "They will love me for what I stand for, what I represent, and my talent.”
