A Lahore court approved on Tuesday a four-day extension in the physical remand of Saadur Rehman, the YouTuber popularly known as Ducky Bhai, in a case of allegedly promoting gambling apps on social media.

Ducky Bhai was arrested early Sunday at the Lahore airport and presented before a judicial magistrate who approved his two-day physical remand. He is currently in the custody of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).

Investigating Officer Shoaib Riaz had requested a 28-day remand, alleging that the suspect was a member of an international gambling racket.

The court heard the arguments and extended the physical remand of the suspect till August 23.

The case was registered by the state through the NCCIA Lahore at midnight on August 17 under sections 13 (Electronic Forgery), 14 (Electronic Fraud), 25 (Spamming) and 26 (Spoofing) of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016 as well as sections 294 B (Offering prize in connection with trade) and 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducting delivery of property) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The case is related to an inquiry dated June 13 and registered on the “receipt of information from reliable source(s)” that some YouTubers and social media influencers were promoting gambling and betting applications to the general public via their social media accounts for their own monetary benefits.

The FIR claimed that the public invested their hard earned money in these applications due to this and suffered financial losses. It accused Rehman of promoting different gambling and betting applications, including Binomo, 1xBet, Bet 365, B9 Game etc through his Youtube channel.

A total of 27 video links from his account that purportedly promoted these applications were included in the FIR, several of which are no longer available to view.

I literally only know his name due to articles on Dawn. Oh and occasionally YouTube recommended his videos. Never watched them though. I would still say there are more pressing issues than pursuing gambling crimes. Rampant violent and sexual crimes against humans including women and children.and corruption. This is distracting from the real issues. Deliberate distraction to keep awaam dumb, dead, blind and more importantly and successfully passive. The oppressors get away right under our noses.

@Hussam YouTube, YouTubers, social media, are not responsible for raising your kids. YOU are. That's what parenting is about instead of conveniently abandoning kids in front of TV, computers, tablets and phones without monitoring, safety precautions, awareness or control. So what you describe sounds like a parenting problem. Simple solution: Watch YouTube with your children, keep track of browser history and teach them right from wrong and exert control. Even if they are older kids. As long as you are paying their bills, gadgets and they live under your roof. If you leave kids to their own devices, other people will influence them. That's how grooming and cult recruiting happen. Alternatively don't allow your children to be online unless it is for educational purpose and supervised by an adult. It is your duty as a parent to teach your child right and wrong, morals, values, hone their creativity, education, how to be a good decent person, how to pursue their dreams realistically, sex education, islam and to stay away from dangers, strangers and traps. It's not parenting to simply bring a child onto this world. Parenting is about raising them. No short cuts.
