How to help people affected by the floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK

A list of some organisations working in the areas to provide relief efforts and how you can donate to them.
18 Aug, 2025

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is facing catastrophic floods in the aftermath of cloudbursts and above-average rainfall, with the death toll having reached 323 on Sunday. Similar incidents in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir have contributed to a national death toll of 657 since the rains started in June. Both the federal and provincial governments have started relief operations in the areas.

The National Disaster Management Authority says Pakistan will receive heavy spells of rain throughout September, prompting concerns about further devastation and more casualties.

As always, Pakistanis have been rallying to help their fellow countrymen. There are several NGOs working in these areas to provide relief to people affected by the floods. For those looking to lend a helping hand, the following organisations have requested donations to aid their efforts:

The Al-Khidmat Foundation is actively working to rescue people from flood-hit areas and provide relief supplies to affected populations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. They accept donations as direct transfers and as payments via debit/credit cards.

People who live near effected areas, should go and help directly and donate directly, of possible. Its the best way to ensure the fund and help reach the proper people. These floods were totally avoidable. The blood is on the hands of those in power.

Waste of money and effort. Don't contribute anything as they will rebuild in the very same place where the floods will hit again after 30 years cycle. One school was hit in 1995 and hit again in 2025. All construction in now in river beds and flood plains. Unless you clear people away from the river flow channels this will happen again and again So it has nothing to do with climate change or weather, just too many children and uncontrolled growth.

"As always, Pakistanis have been rallying to help their fellow countrymen." Since when? News to me. IF Pakistanis rallied majority of our issues would not exist.

East or West, based on past experiences, exposures and interactions, Al-Khidmat Foundation (no relations) is the most honest, reliable, truthful and the best.

@Amjadkhan Yes that's very very important. People should avoid governmental aid organizations like the plague. They will just pocket the money themselves. As usual. Instead it's best to coordinate grassroot level collections with reliable persons appointed to preferably go and hand out the donations or transfer directly to effected families. NGOs and social activists are important but again people need to verify the authenticate before donating. Also be critical about go fund me online collections that anybody can set up. Many opportunitists will seek to cash in on it. There is a YouTube channel called Aao Madad Karen about a couple helping poor destitute people and social activism. People need to go check then out and find similar groups and donate.
