American actor Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars is a moment that has gone down in TV history and everybody is still talking about it — including Bollywood actor Salman Khan who remarked on the importance of show hosts using humour that is "never below the belt".

The incident materialised when Rock joked about Smith's wife, actor Jada Pinket Smith at the 94th Academy Awards held in Los Angeles on Sunday. While many netizens and celebrities agreed Rock's comments were insensitive, Smith was called out for his behaviour as well. The most recent celebrity to comment on the incident is Khan who, in a press conference with the Indian media, said that a host should never "cross the line".

The Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor attended a press conference on Monday (March 28) ahead of IIFA Awards this year, telling the press that a presenter should be "sensitive" about what they say on stage. According to The Indian Express, Khan said that since he himself has hosted shows such as Bigg Boss and Dus Ka Dum, he realises "it’s important for a host to be sensitive". "Humour should always be above the belt and never below the belt," he said.

Khan mentioned that whenever there was a situation in Bigg Boss in which a contestant said something that made him angry, he would always speak his mind albeit with careful consideration. "[At the] end of the day, the contestants are also living in the house and they have to perform, so learn to be patient and sensitive towards them. I don’t cross a line. Whatever I have to say, I say it on the given Saturday and then on Sunday I am all normal," he said.

Just a day ago, Kangana Ranaut showed support for Smith and said she would've done the same if it were her family. She took to Instagram Stories to voice agreement with what Smith did at the ceremony. "If some idiot used my mum or sister's illness to make [a] bunch of fools laugh, I would slap him like Will Smith did," she wrote alongside clap emojis, adding that she hopes Smith comes to the show Lock Upp — a reality show in which celebrities locked "inside queen Kangana Ranaut’s jail" complete tasks and challenges to gain basic necessities.

Smith has since apologised for slapping Rock at the Oscars. saying his behaviour at the televised ceremony was "unacceptable and inexcusable". "I would like to publicly apologise to you, Chris," Smith wrote on Instagram. "I was out of line and I was wrong."

Good thing Chris Rock did not joke about Dawyne Johnson's wife. It was only Will Smith.

Will Smith acted with rare integrity. Western society does not value personal integrity. Society often confuses humility with shyness, morality with backwardness, integrity with self Center news and loyalty with brainwashing

Will Smith shouldn't have slapped him. There are other ways too to show annoyance in a more subtle way.

Smith & family should have simply walked away, audience would have appreciated it, Chris Rock would have faced the music.

I hope he was not trying to justify Will Smith's actions, he himself have been involved in several acts of altercations with journalist one recently. Chris Rock was not fair and so is life.
