Cardi B wears Indian designer Gaurav Gupta in new music video for ‘No Love’
Grammy-winning American rapper Cardi B donned a couture dress made by Indian designer Gaurav Gupta in her latest music video 'No Love'.
The MV features a remix of her song 'No Love' — originally released in November 2021 — sung by Cardi B alongside American singers Summer Walker and SZA.
The music video, released on YouTube on March 25, shows Cardi B dancing and singing in a field of roses while wearing Gupta's "Amorphous Shapeshifter Sculptural Outfit" in ivory.
The WAP singer skipped out on the accessories, complementing the dress with long, straight hair and dewy makeup.
Gupta took to Instagram to reveal more details about the look. He explained that in the MV, the 29-year-old rapper represents the element of air and the "the brand's indigenous sculpting technique" used to create the dress brought "her cosmic character to life".
“The whole form is like loops of infinity, amorphous and translucent with very dramatic sculpted shoulders and trails. I think it’s a really beautiful collaboration, our conceptual signature style that’s been worn by Cardi B who is one of the most iconic artists of our time,” he captioned a post featuring photos of the designer and his apprentice at work while making the dress.
Gupta has dressed several stars like Bollywood actors Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, and more recently, American rapper Megan Thee Stallion at the Oscars on Sunday. He is the first Indian designer to dress Cardi B.
Cardi B is known for her love for eclectic and out-of-the-box looks — she wore a gold breastplate designed by Pakistani artist Misha Japanwala in the MV for her song 'Rumours' in August, 2021. This wasn't the only time Cardi B chose Japanwala's designs — earlier in June 2021, she announced her second pregnancy with a picture of herself wearing a mould created by the artist.
