Sheheryar Munawar talks about upcoming serial Pehli Si Muhabbat, work chemistry with Maya Ali
The story of unrequited love between two star-crossed lovers in modern-day Pakistan, Sheheryar Munawar and Maya Ali's Pehli Si Muhabbat is an upcoming serial where the duo will be fighting their own battles and against the world to come together in what will be an intense love story.
"Aslam is a young, early 20s boy-next-door who lives in Karachi but moves back to Hyderabad to see his family. He's got strong principles and values and likes to stand for them. With friends he has a good laugh, doesn't like to take himself too seriously, is rough around the edges — kind of like a gali ka larka," Sheheryar opened up while talking to Images, adding that the character was especially to fun to play because it was witty, emotional and strong-willed.
Sharing what it was like to be on a television set after long, he also laughed about how the experience was a little tiring and a lot of work. "But also a lot of fun because when you're doing films you're doing about half a scene or a scene a day — but on a television set you average about 8 scenes a day."
"But for the same reason it's also very exciting because you get to do so much work," the Ho Mann Jahan actor added. "In a film, I'll have 50 scenes to myself but in a drama i'll probably have 250 scenes. You get to do so much, play around with the emotions, play around with the character a lot more. So great to be back on a TV set," he added.
Sheheryar also spoke about how the experience of working with Maya Ali was, given that the two only recently came together for their film Parey Hut Love.
"Because we had a working relationship in Parey Hut Love, it was easy for me to just jump into Pehli Si Muhabbat and already have that kind of connection in terms of working together," the star said, praising Ali over her great energy.
"Maya is very professional, hardworking and a focused colleague to work with. She has great work ethic and she puts in a lot of effort into the scenes that we do together. There's a lot of back and forth into prepping for a scene, we can exchange our ideas easily so it's a lot of fun."
Previously, Maya too had shared snippets from the sets, giving fans a teaser into the new serial to be aired on ARY digital.
The serial, written by Faiza Iftikhar and directed by Anjum Shahzad, has no release date as yet.
