The wait is finally over.
After months of teasing us with tiny updates, Coke Studio is back for season 12 this Friday, October 11 and none other than Atif Aslam will be kicking off the show.
Aslam, who has appeared on the series multiple times before, will be singing the hamd 'Wohi Khuda Hai'.
According to a press release, penned by Muzaffar Warsi, the lyrics of 'Wohi Khuda Hai' are a praise of God as the Creator of a system that runs and maintains an order of the universe in balance and harmony.
A piece that was originally made iconic by Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Wohi Khuda Hai remains a national favourite and will now be sung by a national treasure (we couldn' resist!).
Reflecting on his life journey, Aslam shared, “I still don’t think I have made it. When I started, for the first few years, I used to think, with fame and money, I’d made it. But after that I asked myself, ‘What have you made? This is all material that you have.’ After that, the real search started. That is when the fun started. Even today, I am caught in that search. I will keep at it, always.”
The CS roster for season 12 also includes Abrar-ul-Haq, Aima Baig, Ali Sethi, Fareed Ayaz and Abu Muhammad with Humnawa, Hadiqa Kiani, Quratulain Baloch, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Sahir Ali Bagga, Sanam Marvi, Shuja Haider, Umair Jaswal, Zeb Bangash and Zoe Viccaji, among others.
