The Joker's origin movie starring Joaquin Phoenix is confirmed
Your favourite DC villain is getting his solo movie.
The Joker origin movies has been in talks for a long time and rumours about the film featuring Joaquin Phoenix have been making the rounds. Now, Hollywood Reporter confirms that the movie has been green-lit and is a go. Shooting will begin in September.
Scott Silver and Todd Phillips have co-written the script that has been described by the studio as "exploration of a man disregarded by society [that] is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale."
From the looks of it, we're pretty sure the story will be based on Alan Moore's The Killing Joke and we're thinking Joaquin Phoenix just might pull it off. We're also wondering if the focus will just be on the nameless character struggling to be a comedian and going down a dark path or will it be presented the same way as the book.
Oh well, might make a Red Hood movie possible in the near future.
Jared Leto, however, will be reprising his role as The Joker in the sequel for Suicide Squad and a movie on The Joker and Harley Quinn.
