The Joker's origin movie as a prequel to The Dark Knight was an April Fool's joke
Screen Rant ran an April Fool's joke stating that The Joker Origin movie is a Dark Knight prequel.. and we fell for it.
We have so many versions of The Joker on screen but now we know whose origins we'll be watching soon.
Todd Philips, director of the upcoming movie on The Joker, revealed that the film will be a prequel for Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight.
According to Screen Rant, Warner Bros released an updated production slate of movies which included an "Untitled Joker origin movie" confirming all the rumours that such a film is in the making. According to the statement, the film will be heavily based on Alan Moore's The Killing Joke showing The Joker as an ordinary man aspiring to be a comedian and how he becomes the Clown Prince of crime.
We'd have just preferred a movie version of The Killing Joke honestly, that too separate from Christopher Nolan's trilogy. It feels uncomfortable to have a Joker based on the late Heath Ledger but here's hoping Philips will do the film justice.
The film will be produced by Martin Scorsese and was initially rumoured to have Leonardo DiCaprio on board but now many are expecting Joaquin Phoenix to take on the part.
We're kinda hoping for a new face. After all, this film will take place 20 years before Nolan's trilogy.
