Will Shuja Haider's Soundscape revive concert culture in Pakistan?

The project will also introduce his new music act, The Shuja Haider Ensemble

Shuja Haider wants to bring back live music performances in Pakistan with his latest project, Soundscape.

The music producer/singer, who is known for his chart-topping OSTs for Bol and Mann Mayal and appearances in Coke Studio 9 and 10, is now working on an interactive live music series titled Soundscape, for which he will get numerous artists on board.

"The idea is to take Pakistani music on another level where the music producer designs a show and produces original and covers songs that will only be heard live in their truest form," says Shuja to Images. "I believe that Pakistani music has huge potential which still needs to shown not only to Pakistanis but to the world."

"I hope to bring musicians from across Pakistan together to create a live-music medium to celebrate music and establish our Pakistani sound as a voice through which everyone can communicate," he adds.

"The idea behind Soundscape is that a music producer designs a show and produces original and covers songs that will only be heard live in their truest form," says Shuja Haider

While he can't reveal the artist line-up at the moment, Shuja says he's currently more focused on perfecting the content of the concert series. What we do know about the artist line-up is that we will see The Shuja Haider Ensemble perform for the first time.

Shuja explains, "The Shuja Haider ensemble will bring forward instruments, musicians and compositions while interpreting them within a more modern context, thereby reviving our pop-musical culture for the youth today."

From Soundscape in general, here's what we can expect: "With dynamic musical arrangements and experimentation, expect thematic musical fusion and collaborations of diverse influences, ranging from traditional eastern, modern western and pop-inspired music in Soundscape."

So is it like Coke Studio but different? We'll find out in November, when the first edition of Soundscape is expected to be held.
