Zayn Malik has come under fire from fans for collaborating on a song with M.I.A., which is thought to misuse the word 'rape', reports Mirror.

On M.I.A's latest track ‘Freedun’, some listeners claim one of the verses goes like “I rape that button just to play this song” and objected to the slang use of the word 'rape'.

Fans on Twitter were enraged that Zayn agreed to feature on the rapper's track, even if he was not the one to sing the controversial lyric:

After the Twitter outrage, however, M.I.A came forward to clarify that the lyrics, in fact, is “I rate that button just to play this song.” The 41-year-old rapper put up her album's lyric sheet on Instagram as proof:

These singers just care about their Album and Money Which They can Collect From them...Stongly condemn .. Such heinous crimes should not be promoted in any way
