6 moments from Actor in Law that poke fun at Pakistan's recent obsessions
If the poster piqued our interest, the trailer definitely lived up to the hype.
The trailer of Actor In Law is out now and it doesn't disappoint. Starring Fahad Mustafa, Mehwish Hayat and Bollywood actor Om Puri in lead roles, the film's trailer highlights some hilariously unforgettable -- and regrettable for some -- moments from last year.
From model Ayyan Ali's arrest to morning show host Ayesha Sana's 'bright karein' outburst, the trailer parodies events that made headlines in the past.
While the trailer was filled with such references, we've filtered the ones we loved most.
1) That 'bright karein' moment
Ayesha Sana sparked a stir after losing her cool in a behind-the scenes video. Celebs and many others took to Dubsmash to nail her 'bright karein' video, but we think Fahad Mustafa took the cake.
2) Annoying impotence SMSes/adverts
There's no denying that we get plenty of texts regarding impotence or mardana kamzori, so much so that these SMS have become a running joke. Mehwish Hayat does a take on this 'weakness' remarkably well. Notice the ad at the back and the fact that the female is the one calling the clinic.
3) Ayyan Ali's arrest
Remember the famous chestnut brown hair, dark blue hoodie and aviators? All of Pakistan does. Ayyan Ali's walk of shame from the police mobile to the court house created a frenzy among reporters, and is burned in everyone's memory... including these filmmakers!
4) Mubasher Lucman aka Muddasir Sultan
Twitter is one place everyone boasts about their followers and Pakistan's very own Mubasher Lucman is no less. This parody of the TV news anchor mirrors the time he said (on his show) that Bilawal Bhutto's followers pale in comparison to his. That's how much of a big deal it is to have a large Twitter following.
5) Burning effigies
What do we do best when it comes to protests? Burn effigies and further the destruction of our country.
6) For the love of social media
This has to be our favourite of the lot... not only because there is so much fire in Mehwish and her delivery is downright perfect, but also because of the simple reason that if it's not on Facebook, then it didn't happen. Kind of reminds us of Sohai Ali Abro and her incessant selfie craze in Jawani Phir Nahi Ani. #LovingThis!

The film is set to release on Eid ul Azha.
