Indian-American actor Poorna Jagannathan, known for her role as Nalini Vishwakumar in Netflix’s Never Have I Ever, is using her platform to call for donations for flood relief efforts in Pakistan.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the actor wrote, “Will you join me in giving to Pakistan? What’s happening there is monumental- lives getting swept away .. — the death toll is way past 1000. Places to donate are below — including to Care Org which is doing great work on the ground.”

She tagged three other organisations for her followers to donate to — Hands Pakistan, Pakistan Red Crescent Society and Islamic Relief UK.

Jagannathan shared a CNN brief about the flooding on her Instagram story as well as TCF’s flood relief appeal. “TCF Pakistan works directly in Pakistan. You can donate here,” she told her followers.

She received a lot of comments thanking her for using her platform to raise awareness. Parody page Swineryy, content creator Rosy Pirani and other Instagram users also thanked the actor.

If you want to donate, here is an extensive list of organisations accepting donations and working to aid people affected by the floods.

Jagannathan has acted in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Delhi Belly, The Blacklist, The Dead Center, Share, Big Little Lies and Ramy, among other projects. But the actor shot to fame from Netflix’s Never Have I Ever where she plays Nalini Vishwakumar, a South Asian immigrant living in the suburbs of California who is a doctor and single mother dealing with a teen daughter, Devi, played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan.

Don;t give them money, give them food. Else, their Army will buy weapons instead of helping people.

Thank you Madam. Shame of Pakistani stars who are making statements of sympathy but not doing anything practical or making actual donations.

@NYS - Your hate-filled response to humanitarian expression is disgusting. Let us all feel the pain irrespective of the hate mongers.

@Chanakya Stop this BS. People in the US that the actor is appealing to can’t give food. Regardless, the charities she has mentioned are very good ones and donate generously funds that they can use in Pakistan.
