Twitter hails Babar Azam’s cover drive as the perfect comeback to Mohammad Amir’s ‘tail-ender’ comment
It’s PSL season and the tournament has kicked off with a side of drama. Nothing too serious, just a match to set some rivalries aflame. Babar Azam, as you may know, has switched over to Peshawar Zalmi after years of being a Karachi King. So of course, the face-off between the two teams was bound to stir up something. His cover drive has got Pakistani Twitter cheering as they call it “revenge” after the Kings’ Mohammad Amir’s comment about ‘tail-enders’ and Azam.
Zalmi beat the Kings by two runs in a close match on Tuesday at the National Stadium in Karachi. The Peshawar skipper’s performance, in particular, has fans floating in a bubble of glee after Amir, perhaps in a fit of overconfidence, had said that his job is to “take wickets and win matches” so for him, “facing Babar or a tail-ender batting at number 10 will be the same”.
Watching Azam hit fours, particularly when Amir was bowling, has been the highlight of the match for many.
Even Azam is feeling himself.
Sometimes reality is better than expectation.
Watching him soar has been a pleasure.
No tail-ender slander was tolerated.
Oops.
Goodnight to Babarians and Babarians only.
