Ukrainian-American actor Mila Kunis and her husband Ashton Kutcher have successfully raised $35 million on their GoFundMe page they set up with a goal of $30 million to provide relief to Ukrainian refugees. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy personally video-called the couple to express gratitude for the humanitarian aid they've provided.

"Ashton Kutcher & Mila Kunis were among the first to respond to our grief. They have already raised $35 million & are sending it to @flexport and @Airbnb to help Ukrainian refugees. Grateful for their support. Impressed by their determination. They inspire the world," the president captioned his tweet, adding the hashtag "#StandWithUkraine". He attached a photo of their video call as well.

On March 5, Kunis and Kutcher posted a video on their social media announcing their decision to donate $3 million and raise $30 million in total for the Ukrainian refugees. Kunis talked about her home country and called herself a proud Ukrainian. "The events that have unfolded in Ukraine are devastating. There is no place in this world for this kind of unjust attack on humanity," she said.

Kutcher, sitting by Kunis' side in the video, said the funds would be used to provide refugee and humanitarian aid to Ukrainians affected by Russia's invasion of the neighbouring country. The Hollywood couple raised over $6.8 million just a day after setting up the GoFundMe page.

Skip to March 18 and the couple had reached their goal in less than two weeks. They recorded a video message and posted it on their social media.

"We are overwhelmed with gratitude for your support. Two weeks ago we asked you to join us and more than 65,000 of you stepped up and donated what you could. Now, with your help we have reached our $30 million goal," they wrote in the caption.

They thanked the people who donated to the cause but also added that though this doesn't solve anything, it helps many people, which makes it worth it.

"While this is far from a solution for the problem, our collective effort will provide a softer landing for so many people as they forge ahead into their future of uncertainty. Our work is not done. We will do everything we can to ensure that the outpouring of love that came as a part of this campaign finds maximum impact with those in need."

Raising money is not necessarily a solution to the war as the conflict will drag on with funding. They need diplomacy at the earliest possible time.
