Deepika Padukone is set to make history as the first Indian to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The announcement was made by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday night via Instagram, where it revealed the list of inductees into the Walk of Fame’s Class of 2026.

Padukone joins a prestigious line-up that includes Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Marion Cotillard, Stanley Tucci, Rami Malek, Rachel McAdams, and Demi Moore.

From the world of television, honorees include The Office creator Greg Daniels, actor Sarah Michelle Gellar, chef Gordon Ramsay, Bradley Whitford, and Noah Wyle.

The full list, drawn from hundreds of nominations, was approved by the Walk of Fame’s selection panel and ratified by the Hollywood Chamber’s Board of Directors on June 14.

The Walk of Fame, embedded into the sidewalks of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, pays tribute to outstanding figures across film, television, radio, music, live performance, and now, sports entertainment.

Padukone’s addition marks a milestone in the Walk of Fame’s over 60-year history, which has seen more than 2,700 stars awarded.

Padukone began her career with a splash in 2007’s Om Shanti Om and has since carved a space as one of Bollywood’s most bankable and respected actors. With critically-acclaimed performances in Piku, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, Chhapaak and Gehraiyaan, she has consistently combined box office success with bold, emotionally resonant roles.

Her Hollywood debut came in 2017 opposite Vin Diesel in xXx: Return of Xander Cage, and she has since become a regular presence on international red carpets, including the Met Gala and Cannes Film Festival, where she served on the main competition jury in 2022.

Padukone’s influence extends far beyond the screen. Named one of TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2018, she later received the TIME100 Impact Award for her mental health advocacy through the LiveLoveLaugh Foundation.

The actor, who recently made headlines for calling out the Oscars for overlooking Indian films, continues to challenge stereotypes and push for more inclusive global narratives.
