I should be allowed to play any person, tree or animal, says Scarlett Johansson

The actor's comments over PC culture lands her in trouble as she becomes the subject of ridicule

The Scarlett Johansson jokes had become a staple but the actor herself added to it.

After playing the lead role in Ghost in the Shell - a movie based on a Japanese comic - and almost agreeing to play a trans person in Rub & Tub, Johansson has received backlash for cultural appropriation and whitewashing movies.

There are also the Scarlett Johansson jokes where folks 'cast her' for all roles made for minorities.

Looks like the actor has had enough of it and spoke out in an interview for As If magazine.

Says ScaJo, "You know, as an actor I should be allowed to play any person, or any tree, or any animal because that is my job and the requirements of my job.”

“I feel like it’s a trend in my business and it needs to happen for various social reasons, yet there are times it does get uncomfortable when it affects the art because I feel art should be free of restrictions.”

Regarding being politically correct, she added about political correctness, “I think society would be more connected if we just allowed others to have their own feelings and not expect everyone to feel the way we do.”

Well, Scarlett Johansson definitely has an idealistic view in mind but forgets that in 2019, representation matters. And that is what people took to Twitter to remind her of, that and her privilege.

And of course, in came the jokes.
