Captain Marvel's trailer hints at '90s nostalgia but that's it
Captain Marvel is being touted as the first female superhero to get her own solo movie in the MCU.
Sure, it's about time Marvel gives a female superhero the spotlight. Its rival DC's Wonder Woman broke records to became one of its most successful movies. And as the MCU gets more intense with Infinity Wars attempting such grand feats (attempting, sorry), it's understandable that they'd want to bring Captain Marvel on board to join the action.
However, longtime fans of Captain Marvel may not be able to look past the major changes in the hero's origins. 21st Century Fox was yet to merge with Disney when the film was being produced, so it's safe to say that her story will be independent from X-Men. We're also worried that she looks like she was never Ms Marvel in the MCU.

Brie Larson as Carol Denvers is overshadowed by Samuel Jackson's two-eyed Nick Fury, who finds the superhero and knows she is destined for greatness. She falls through a Blockbuster store so as to set the time for the film, while pay phones and overall fashion keep hitting the ol' nostalgia. It's interesting that timeline for this film is reminiscent of the pictures we're seeing for Wonder Woman: 1984. Hmmm...
Denvers already has her memory wiped out, although we wonder by whom since the X-Men aren't technically here yet so we know it isn't Rogue. Also, to those worried Captain Marvel smacked an old lady, worry not, its a shapeshifter which hints at Skrulls being in the film. Captain Marvel had a huge tiff with Mystique. Just saying. The MCU is really drifting away from the brilliant source material it should be inspired from.
We're wary about this one, but we'll stay hopeful.
Captain Marvel is coming out on March 8, 2019.
