Women in Pakistan in day to day life outside the home are treated better than men, exceptions excluded. 30years ago we use to leave seat out for any women, regardless of the age in the daily bus service. Whereas only certain senior aged men got this privilege. I can go on and on and on and similar attitude toward women still is maintained in Pakistan and we are very proud of that.

Women and Men are not equal anywhere in the world. Why people have not learned to live with the differnece. I would count it as psycosis if you trying your best to make them equal. Either one is above or below or equal in some aspects but you can't prove the statement of equality in general.

If they were to be created equal, than what was the need for creating men and women.

Women are deprived of their basic rights; molested and humiliated at work place and in Public transport, killed at the name of honour,burried when born, exchange marriages in revenge are common and so on. You are stared even while walking down the street ,and being male i am shamed of how we treat our women. If you are weak such as divorced or orphan you become even more victim. And this is all because women is treated a property and sense of ownership and upper hand prevails ; either being husband ,brother ,father and so on. Atleast we must stand up for equal basic rights such as education ,protection , right to justice , and work opportunities.

No one is superior or inferior, both gender has their own roles. I believe those women with skill set shall contribute to the society and also to the work place. Have to agree these days women are more interested in getting higher education and also they are doing well.

We must give equal rights to women in IndoPak. It's a struggle for any nation to rise until women are treat equal. Come together as brother IndoPak two nations but one heart of Sindhu/Tamil Dharti to which we all belong. We can solve all our issues once we start to see each other as brothers. Both are strong and weak in different things. But if we talk of giving equal rights. Then Pakistan is behind on that. It is a male dominted society. Woman are still only objects.

In this part of the world, even all men are not equal. All women are not equal either. We find excuses in nature and religion to suppress people. in the USA, kids grow up listening to 'all men are created equal'. In the West, laws are created for the disadvantaged to make them more equal. We seek justification for inequality.

We have to respect women from the heart. Wish Pakistan women happy holidays.

It's a myth. And it starts right from home. Think, as a brother, after returning from the school, have you ever served your sister a meal? No. But she does and always. As a mother, has she ever asked her son to serve his sister a glass of water? No. And a girl always do. A matter of prestige, other wise a girl has to also buy the fruits and vegitables from the market. In the society, have you ever seen girls playing games? In the educational centers, in the employment sectors and in the political system, is woman a dominating factor? It's a total myth and every one can judge it.

I dont know about pakistan but in India, women are still fighting for equal rights. But the trend in all companies nowadays is that once a woman or a man joins a company, gender becomes irrelevant. Its their contribution that counts. But yes..special consideration are given to women for delivery...( increased from 2.5 to 6 months paid leave) and when there is a night shift a woman's preference is considered. But we have a long way to go.

Is there equality right now? Big NO. Everyone in South Asia has to work very hard to make it possible. Start with your own home.

Girls in Pakistan and India are raised as second class citizens. Parents raise their boys different then their girls. Boys can go do anything but for girls it is always do not do this, sit this way, These days parents need to educate their girls as well as their boys. an educated woman will educate whole family and will also a support her husband and house hold. Women have lot of strength and are good at multitasking. Happy Women's day to all women in India and Pakistan

I think the respect to women in any society can be calibrated by looking at how they are treated in public and private. I have read a lot of comments here where it is boasted that women are treated very nicely in public. But the question is how women is treated in private? Does the women get respect in a male dominated offices, at homes by husbands, at the times when they want to use their free will, at times when it comes for equal pay.

Women can't be equal to Men, they must be respected but equality is not possible.

@Ardeshir I don't believe anyone is unaware of the fact that men and women are biologically different. But that should never be the basis of the social inequality that women in Pakistan face every day.

@Hassan Nazir Bravo, you said it very loud and clear. Being from a backward area of Pakistan, where literacy rate in women population is still less than 10% and these illiterates who most of the time living in subhuman conditions, toil whole day, fetching water and wood from long distances, physically walking with unprotected and totally depreciated footwear for hours together. Those advocating women rights, I am afraid would not dare to venture to these areas in the first place, even if they do it would miracle if they are allowed to have a contact with them. Talking about women right in an urban environment is very lucrative and pleasant but in real world of rural areas of the country, leaving Punjab aside, is totally foreign and bourgeois, and unacceptable in style, thought and practice by the men, who are a dominant factor in these communities. I for one, am not a male chauvinist, but a realist. A change can come through education accessibility to all w/out gender consideration.

They are not treated equally anywhere...in the west they are paid less for the same job...lets stop demonising Pakistan at every drop of a hat....
