Original Wonder Woman Lynda Carter tells James Cameron to 'stop dissing' the movie

James Cameron thinks 'Wonder Woman' wasn't ground breaking and Carter wants him to know he's missing the point

The new Wonder Woman movie garnered criticism from filmmaker James Cameron, who describes the film as a "step backwards" in the portrayal of strong female characters.

While director Patty Jenkins has been doing just fine in defending her hit movie, she got the best backup ever. The original Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter.

Carter, known for playing Wonder Woman in the 1970's series, took to social media to hit back at Cameron, telling him to stop his "thuggish jabs" at the new film.

In her post Carter, amidst asking Cameron to back off Patty Jenkins and Wonder Woman claimed that he "perhaps didn't understand the character."

"Like all women we are more than the sum of our parts," said the 61-year-old actress.

"Your thuggish jabs at a brilliant director, Patty Jenkins, are ill-advised. This movie was spot on. Gal Gadot was great."

She added,"I know, Mr Cameron - because I have embodied this character for more than 40 years. So - STOP IT."

Don't mess with the OG Wonder Woman!

Earlier James Cameron had told the Hollywood Reporter that Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman was "drop-dead gorgeous... to me that's not breaking ground".

James Cameron did say he thought Wonder Woman was a good film, saying, ""As much as I applaud Patty directing the film and Hollywood, uh, 'letting' a woman direct a major action franchise, I didn't think there was anything groundbreaking in Wonder Woman. I thought it was a good film. Period."

But he continued to say in August that Wonder Woman was "an objectified icon".

The film's director Patty Jenkins was quick to respond, saying "there is no right or wrong kind of powerful woman".

We love that Lynda Carter supported the new origins movie. Now if Patty Jenkins would just give her a cameo in the sequel, we'd be happy!

At this important juncture in time and history, what else can Lynda Carter, the original and the first TV series Wonder Woman say to filmmaker James Cameron?

@SIS SANDAL These are DC Movies. WW is a DC character not marvel. Anyway Marvel is doing a much better job than DC at the moment. DC getting panned for the efforts their churning out. Only the three Batman movies with Christian Bale were any good. Rest is just forgetable including this WW film.
