George Clooney, Barbra Streisand shoot down Trump's anti-Meryl tweet

Barbra Streisand called Trump's behaviour 'disgraceful', while George hopes 'he doesn't destroy everything.'

This Sunday at the Golden Globes, Meryl Streep took the opportunity during her acceptance speech to slam Trump for mocking a disabled person.

Many from the Hollywood fraternity lauded her for calling out the US president-elect, however, the speech did not go down well with Donald Trump who aimed an unapologetic low-blow at the A-lister:

It didn't take long for Hollywood's big wigs to hit back in support of Meryl.

Addressing the incident, actor George Clooney criticised Trump at a reception for a Netflix documentary and said, "Aren’t you supposed to be running the country? I didn’t vote for him, I don’t support him, I don’t think he’s the right choice."

"At this moment in our lives we have to hope that he doesn’t destroy everything. The reality is you have to hope he will do a decent job because if the United States fails, really terrible things happen, so you have to hope that he can."

And added, "I don’t see any signs of it."

American singer Barbra Streisand called Trump 'disgraceful' and concurred with Meryl's though-provoking speech at American TV show 'Hardball with Chris Matthews.'

"I thought that she said what she said beautifully, and I completely agree with Meryl -- it was a heartbreaking moment and so beneath the dignity of the presidency, let alone any respectful person," she said.

"And what we need more in this world is kindness and common decency, and how he reacts and how he has the need to talk back and insult anybody who doesn’t agree with him, that’s pretty disgraceful."

Barbra didn't stop there, she asked: "What’s the signal to little children who watch television and see this is the behavior of the soon-to-be-president of the United States?"

Ironically, in 2015, during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, when Trump was asked to name actresses he liked, he named two: Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts.

He had said: "Julia Roberts is terrific, and many others. Meryl Streep is excellent; she's a fine person, too."

Guess he's not a fan anymore.

because the media is nothing more than propaganda for the left. I'm I the only one who has seen how the US voted for Trump! Look at the map and then ask yourself why is the media not reporting what the American public see in Trump! Hollywood doe not represent the USA of its lifestyle and values!

I agree with Barbra Streisand that what we need in this world in kindness and common decency. I think that President elect Mr. Donald Trump should show it by example. After all, he is going to be the leader of the free world.

Courageous, bold and penetrating statements by George Clooney and Barbara Streisand. It can only happen in America since giving a public statement against any President-elect could be dangerous. if this would have been any other country, these two Hollywood stars might be in big trouble by now.

There is an anti class lobby that has come out of the farms to vote Trump in who ironically is no typical average American . He makes an extra effort to show he is one of them with his rants and tweets and is playing up his popular base of blue collar white Christians living in the heartland and the suburbs of the big cities . He is not chasing the Hollywood vote or the California vote or the urban vote . The more he pisses them off the happier his voters feel.
