Celebs get down and dirty for Karachi Savaro campaign

Fahad Mustafa, Shaniera Akram and Tapu Javeri helped revamp Karachi's largest public hospital JPMC yesterday
12 Dec, 2015

Celebs rally together for a cause fairly often, but the result is seldom this colourful.

Tapu Javeri, Shaneira Wasim, Moin Khan, Frieha Altaf, Fahad Mustafa, Fizza Ali and Yasser Hussain were among the few who took out time to contribute to the revamp of Karachi's largest public hospital, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, which was a project spearheaded by Aman Foundation.

The event, titled “Karachi Savaro,” is part of a community service initiative to encourage citizens to take responsibility for the city and its public spaces.

Celebs joined students in cleaning up, planting trees at and painting the walls of the hospital.

Of course, they couldn't help but fool around first:

But eventually got down to some serious work:

Shaniera didn't mind getting her hands dirty:

Neither did Yasir Hussain:

The students made a real difference to the previously drab surroundings of the hospital:

And it all ended with a gigantic selfie of course:

The event was a great way to empower youth and a small step towards a happier, more peaceful Karachi.

Cleanliness of the city is a basic right of the citizens which the city admin should be doing. But kudos these volunteers. Clutter in the surrounfing causes clutter and confusion in the mind.

It would be more productive and beneficial if the time, money and effort put in to paint walls of Jinnah Hospital be put towards helping the needy patients.
