Rahat Fateh Ali Khan just sang with an Indian transgender band

It's a party: their song's video will also feature Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma

Here's a collaboration that we're proud of: Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has lent his star power to the latest song from 6 Pack Band, the first trans musical group from India.

The band, which is made up of six transgender singers, became an internet sensation when their rendition of Pharrel William's 'Happy', became viral. Now, the band is set to release their sixth music video, which will also feature Sultan superstars Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma.

The band is fostered by Y-Films, the youth wing of Yash Raj Films. According to Indian Express, Y-Films created the band in 2015 as an initiative to further cause gender equality in the country.

“For the last song we have an epic campaign,” shares Ashish Patil, Vice President Y-Films, Brand Partnerships & Talent Management. "It’s going to be the biggest one. We have collaborated with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, he has sung with the band. The video also has shorts of Salman (Khan) and Anushka (Sharma)."

“Towards the end, Anushka will talk about acceptance, love and why disrespect anyone. It is not just about transgender but all those who have been neglected,” he added.

Previously, Sonu Nigam and Zanai (Asha Bhosale's granddaughter) have collaborated with the band, while Hrithik Roshan has performed on one of their tracks.

The video for their new song with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will release tomorrow.

Bollywood fosters a good relationship with Pakistan actors, actresses, singers, who come to Mumbai, without any hitch, why cant the others. Mawra Hocaine loves Mumbai and want to settle down, looking for an apartment.

True meaning of Dabba Orchestra . Wish them all the best. Next we need to get some real dance number from these groups and give them recognition.

Such things are not possible in heavily conservative Pakistan where they will be targeted immediately. Really appreciate Fateh Ali Khan for his guts to support the group as even his life may be in danger in Pak.

@obivankanobi You indians always comment on Pakistan out of your ignorance. Why such a collaboration wont be possible in Pakistan? Have you never heard of Begum Nawaish (cross dresser) from Pakistan. Many esteemed personalities from different walks of life appeared on his show and got candid with him/her on television screens.

suddenly there is a realisation in s Asia that transgenders are equal human beings and that their rights must be protected at all costs. they are being promoted like never before which is a good thing but let me tell you that transgenders and their likes will never be accepted in our society. people will continue to make fun of them and do all they can to cast them aside.
