Singer Jawad Ahmad and his men allegedly thrashed a couple of officials of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) after they detected power theft at a beauty salon in Johar Town.

Lesco authorities have submitted an application to the respective police station for registration of a case against the singer and his men for beating and harassing its staff besides snatching the faulty meter from them after they reached the premises owned by the singer’s wife, according to Lesco Airline subdivision SDO Muhammad Asghar.

“Some of our officials and I, on Wednesday evening, were accompanying the Lesco monitoring and laboratory team. When the team checked the meter installed at the salon of the singer’s wife, it was found to be tampered with. Its one phase was also dead,” SDO Afzal told Dawn.

He said the team removed the meter, however, in the meantime, the singer along with three unknown people reached the spot and started quarrelling with the team. They, according to him, not only snatched the meter but also thrashed two staffers.

“When I found the situation turning ugly, I called the police who drove all of us to the police station where we asked the police to make the singer return us the meter and pay the detection bill. We also asked police to register a case but to no avail,” he said.

“Police rather asked us to settle the issue there and then and did not register the case. I brought this issue to the knowledge of my seniors who approached senior police officials,” the SDO added.

No one has sympathy with Lesco electricity companies, who charge illegal exorbitant rates. Jawad Ahmad is a crack pot, needs psychiatric help

"We also asked the police to register a case but to no avail". That says everything. When citizens can't even count on the police to file a report, an FIR, a BASIC citizens RIGHT, then what's left. Lawless corrupt so-called islamic country, where the rich and powerful get away with crimes, abuse, not paying taxes, tempering with metres for gas, electric, water supply. Nothing will happen, as usual. The singer has money and apparently thugs too, and our police are mostly cowards and corrupt.

LESCO is no just a thief it's a rascal. It has never been able to control any line losses and is habitual of putting the bills of its corruption and in efficiency on the poor consumers who are paying the bills. Also the consumers are getting inflated bills for no reasons but in this extreme inflation they are made to pay through their nose on a threat of disconnection

Rule of Law - is absent. Starting with LESCO - who create artificial bills for consumers. and then Consumers who steal (as it is alleged here- and most like will be the case) - the whole system is corrupt - which comes from a mass corrupted mind-set. it is not easy to explain when whole society lives in Narcissism.

@Asaf Exactly. I think months ago or maybe a couple of years ago it was revealed by screenshots of the utility bill belonging to a LESCO staff member that they were paying just small symbolic amount. Until corruption ends and gets punished as the treason it is, nothing will change.

The LESCO staff should get their own justice. When police won't do their job, then it's time for citizen action and citizens arrest. Don't tell me a few real men couldn't overpower and subdue Jawad and his thugs. Seriously how do we solve this?

I advise people to watch the online video lasting 3 minutes and 14 seconds. The way Jawad and his dyed ponytail arrive and keeps pushing, shoving, waving his ugly finger in the LESCO peoples faces telling them to go, is so infuriating. Why don't guys hit back when being manhandled by guys? Why does the anger and aggression only come out when beating women? It's infuriating to see him get away with. In any other country he would get hit back. You don't touch another person. Especially workers doing their job because you are stealing electricity, Jawad and Mrs Jawad.
