If these 5 Chahat Fateh Ali Khan songs aren’t on your playlist, what are you doing with your life?
Chahat Fateh Ali Khan — a name that needs no introduction, especially after his hit single ‘Bado Badi’ went viral on social media and garnered millions of views on YouTube. From Bollywood actors to K-Pop singers, everyone has been lip-syncing along to ‘Bado Badi’.
Unfortunately, the song was removed from the video sharing platform after copyright strikes as it drew inspiration from Noor Jehan’s iconic ‘Akh Larhi Bado Badi’. However, Khan recently announced that the song is now back on YouTube. A cause for celebration? We think so! The song was re-uploaded 13 days ago and already has 1.9 million views.
To commemorate the re-release of ‘Bado Badi’, we have rounded up five of the best songs by the blinged out legend himself. You’re welcome.
1. ‘Kash Kash Kash’
This bop starts with some melodic poetry, before transitioning into a wishful, almost yearning, track about wanting to be with one’s beloved. The most unexpected twist? The student recitation of the Urdu alphabet in the middle of the song. Even while entertaining us, Khan strives to educate us, and there is something quite beautiful about that.
2. ‘Phir PSL Ka Match Hoo’
You’ve heard ‘Hai Koi Hum Jaisa’ by Strings, you’ve heard ‘Hum Hain Pakistani Hum Tau Jeetain Ge’ by Junaid Jamshed, but did you know Khan also did a cricket anthem?
The song details his desire to be locked in a room with his beloved to watch a Pakistan Super League (PSL) cricket match. The artistic music video features him dancing with models, with clips from PSL matches interspersed in between. Now this is the song the Pakistan Cricket Board should use as the PSL anthem next year.
3. ‘Tu Chor Chor Chor’
‘Tu Chor Chor Chor’ starts with a funky, quick-paced beat and staying true to his style, Khan sings a fun repetitive lyric, “Tu chor chor chor, meray dil da chor / Saraay jag wich, jag wich, pagaya shor, shor, shor”. We can only translate this as “You’re the thief of my heart and there’s noise everywhere”. You can imagine the repetitions yourself.
This song also features the sudden burst of Urdu alphabet recitation, and honestly, we’re glad. He’s just helping us remember the alphabet better.
4. ‘Meray Dil Di Taali’
This one is for all the mellow love song listeners, from the king of romance himself. A groovy, slow beat is accompanied by Khan’s low raspy vocals as he kicks off the song with the Indian sa-re-ga-ma raags. We’re a little unsure as to what the lyrics mean exactly, but it sounds great regardless.
The best part, however, is Khan’s mustard silk kurta and green sequined dupatta — catch us wearing this exact outfit to the next mehndi we go to.
5. ‘Bado Badi’
Obviously. Need we say more?
