Israeli forces arrested on Monday night Palestinian singer Dalal Abu Amneh after she posted in support of Gaza, claiming she engaged in “hate speech”.
The singer is an Israeli national and was arrested from her home in Nazareth, according to Middle East Eye.
The publication quoted her lawyers saying the Israeli police had interrogated her, but “no official decision has been taken to extend her detention”.
The singer, who was born in Nazareth, is also a neuroscientist and is known for her songs about Palestine.
According to the Jerusalem Post, there were several “social media posts and public complaints regarding the influencer’s contentious content”, specifically targeting the Israel and voicing support for Palestine.
According to officials, Amneh frequently published posts on social media and engaged in activities perceived as ‘hostile’ to Israeli interests.
She was due to be presented in the Nazareth Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday where the authorities sought an extension of her detention.
