Support continues to pour in from the Pakistani entertainment industry for Aliza Sultan, the ex-wife of Feroze Khan. She had presented in a Karachi family court emergency room reports and photos of her bruises as proof of abuse in a case regarding the custody of their two children. The most recent celebrity to lend Sultan her support is Mira Sethi, who took to Twitter and confirmed that the allegations are “very serious”.

On Thursday, Sethi, the author-actor, tweeted that she met Sultan and her family. She wrote, “The allegations are very serious and people should take them seriously”.

She also shared a conversation she had with Sultan’s father. Sethi wrote that Sultan’s father was rather “surprised” by Khan’s muscular build and questioned why he’d use that to beat his daughter.

Prior to Sethi’s tweet, Zara Noor Abbas, Asad Siddiqui and Mawra Hocane had also extended their support to Sultan. Abbas wrote that “Men like Feroze Khan who think that they are the ‘chosen’ ones and can do anything in the name of Allah and power need to be condemned to tell them their true place in the world and not the righteous’ character that they portray.” Her husband Siddiqui wrote that hitting women shows one’s true character and “it’s never acceptable”.

Iqra Aziz, Khan’s co-star from Khuda Aur Muhabbat, also retracted her project with Khan “as a sign of support for victims of domestic abuse”. Mansha Pasha, Ushna Shah, Sarwat Gilani, Usman Mukhtar, Osman Khalid Butt, Mariyam Nafees and other stars also took to social media to support her in her case against the Khaani actor.

The entertainment fraternity showed support on Tuesday after photos of Sultan with bruises started circulating on social media along with her emergency room and MLO reports. A few hours after being on the receiving end of harsh criticism from not only the entertainment fraternity but netizens, Khan released a statement of his own, denying the “baseless, malicious and untruthful allegations” against him.

Khan, in his statement, also threatened to take legal action against the people for spreading ‘rumours’.

Family life is family life. If it is in the court, it is not the celebrities concern to poke their nose in everything nor have they the best of moralities.

No one has right to lift a hand on a woman, if rhings are bad, then leave the relarionship. Domestic violence has very bad effect on children.

Celebrities, in general, distort society. When such cases attract celebrity endorsement the truth goes out if the window. Let the authorities and the families deal with this.

Whether someone is muscular or nonmuscular abusive behaviour can take So many forms. Women can be abusive too refusing to do their part and blackmailing etc. I want to know why did he do it also .. I mean why do men beat up their wives who they also love ? And do women have an unfair advantage in that they are physically weaker and mentally cleverer

@MKA They are entitled to there opinion since the matter is in the court and not privacy of their house anymore. The atrocities in the society must be called out so people in power take heed to it and provide justice in our corrupted, directionless and frustrated society.

@MKA This is not a family matter. Abuse against anyone, even your own family member, is a criminal offence. Painting it as a family issue has costed women their lives. It should be taken as seriously as abuse against anyone else.

But, we as audience must be careful because, the world of amusement is heavily loaded with make-up helps, that can make mountain out of the mole-mound. What if those pictures were actually the work of make-up art?
