Shadab Khan and Babar Azam dedicate victory against India to Pakistanis affected by floods
The Pakistan cricket team left everyone stunned on Sunday evening with their excellent, yet shocking, performance at the Asia Cup against India. The second face-off won the hearts of many, many Pakistanis and Babar Azam and Shadab Khan took the opportunity to announce that they are dedicating their spectacular win to the victims of floods in Pakistan.
Taking to Twitter, the Khan wrote, “I dedicate this win to all the victims of floods in Pakistan, that’s why we never dropped our heads. Team effort, everyone involved.” He credited Muhammad Rizwan and Muhammad Nawaz for their “valuable contributions”, as well as Asif Ali, Khushdil Shah and the rest of the team.
Azam, the team’s captain, tweeted with photos from the match. “This team of champions delivered in a nail-biting game. Magnificent innings from Muhammad Rizwan and Nawaz. This one is for all those people back in our Pakistan fighting with the floods,” he wrote.
On Sunday, Pakistan chased a 182-run target set by India in their Super Four match of the Asia Cup 2022 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. While Azam and Fakhar Zaman ended their batting journey soon, Rizwan and Nawaz stuck around for some time, giving fans hope for a win. Then came in Ali and Shah to seal the deal and bring victory to the team.
Before the match with India, on Wednesday Khan had dedicated their win against Hong Kong to the people affected by floods. “This victory is dedicated to all those affected by floods in Pakistan. We are playing for our people. You are all in our hearts,” he had written while also urging people to donate as much as they can.
