Akshay Kumar hospitalised after testing positive for Covid-19

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has been hospitalised after testing positive for the coronavirus.

The Hera Pheri actor confirmed the news on social media. Initially, he was in isolation.

“I wish to inform everyone that, earlier this morning, I have tested positive for Covid-19. Following all the protocols, I have immediately isolated myself,” he said in a post on Instagram, adding that he had immediately removed himself from social settings.

“I am under home quarantine and have sought necessary medical care," he added. "I would sincerely request all those that have come in contact with me to get themselves tested and take care. Back in action very soon!”

Soon after, the star updated his fans on his health, saying that he had been hospitalised after seeking advice from health professionals.

Thanking fans for their prayers and best wishes, which he said were working, he then added, "I am doing fine but as a precautionary measure under medical advice, I have been hospitalised. I hope to be back home soon. Take care."

The De Dana Dan actor was shooting for his upcoming film Ram Setu along with co-stars Nushrat Bharucha and Jacqueline Fernandez. However, he isn't the only actor to have tested positive for the virus.

Recently, Alia Bhatt and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who were shooting for their upcoming release Gangubai Kathiawadi in Mumbai’s Goregaon Film City, tested positive for Covid-19.

Bhatt's real-life companion Ranbir Kapoor also tested positive.

Aamir Khan, who was shooting for the Bollywood remake of Robert Zemeckis’ Hollywood hit Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks, also tested positive for coronavirus. The ,film which is currently under production, stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and is expected to be released by Christmas.
