A day in the life of 'feminist and cultural icon' Meesha Shafi

Learn how the singer deals with all the hate and propaganda she faces on a daily basis.

Singer and actor Meesha Shafi let us experience what it's like to be a superstar for a day and to be honest, we're wondering where's the glamour?

She walked us through her average day via a thread on Twitter.

Shafi’s twitter bio reads, ‘Feminist and cultural icon’. That’s a full time job in Pakistan, with a trigger friendly populace pouncing on any utterance of words they’ve made no effort to understand. Coupled with her active court cases filed against and by Ali Zafar, one can only imagine how she fights all the — now fashionable — hate and propaganda thrown her way every day.

Surprise, surprise! She lives a pretty regular life. Her habits though, are made irregular on tough days.

The singer-songwriter highlighted how the smear campaigns against her are affecting the people she cares about. Her mother, who she calls her rock, is one of them.

In addition to her rock, she appreciated her husband as a ‘true feminist ally’ for all the support she gets from him. Way to go, Mahmood Rahman! We’re proud of you.

The sinister 'defamer' loves her kids, rants to her mother, meditates and cooks for her family — just like you and me!

Here’s her easy to procure list of ingredients for what she claims is some deliciously spicy yakhni pulao! Mama Shafi seems to have helped here but you can't fight the patriarchy on an empty stomach.

There's some yoga advice sprinkled in too.

After doing her chores, at 4:37pm, she faced a challenge when her kids wanted to her to go to war with them. Still better than a war online, she noted.

Shafi insists her yakhni pulao recipe is a hit. Do we trust her?

Of course we do!

She ended her day like a true 'man-hater'. She hung out with her family, and as her husband read to their kids, she figured it’s finally time for some self-pampering.

She did a huge disservice to the feminist cause and all the victims of harassment, making any claims by the victims questionable. Her example will be quoted in every court of law, that will go in favour of the perpetrators.

I think accusing someone in public specially related to morality without credible evidence is something to be rethink. If had credible evidence go in court and get conviction but mere accusations this thing should be made discouraged.

She was brave enough to take on a rich and powerful adversary with contacts in the presiding power structure Stalin said, “no man no problem,” the selected powers have proven to get their distractors Nationality and Internationally, the adversary may resort to, “no woman no problem.” To silence the canary.

In today's society the word "icon" is used without any real justification or substance unless in IT terms.

Somebody should inform her feminism does not have a positive ring to it these days. A lot of former feminists have denounced the movement.

She really needs self introspection. A person in her own world and has no idea how the society feels about her. Since when has she become a superstar. Self proclaimed superstar

Shouldn't there be utmost distaste in our mouths for the abusers and feelings of concerns and empathy for our victims. Where is the anger against the perpetrators of these abuses? What's wrong with our people? I am disgusted by people who refuse to listen to her. Stay strong, Meesha!

She is one of those opportunist Pakistanis who quickly secure a foreign citizenship, live a life of comfort and luxury abroad and then try to secure name and fame in their home country.
