With all due respect, I would like to point out and insist that, every country has it's dress code, like in Saudi Arabia, woman can't wear body exposure clothes, forbidden by law, in Pakistan woman can't wear any dress which doesn't cover at least ankle, our Goan Christen minority had to do away with Western clothes, now BURQA is total alien to Europe, I will ask why not assimilate with the culture rather than drawing sword against it.

did she actually read the whole article? Boris's choice of words was a bit out there but you can't blame him. In UK we have had a spate of robberies done by ppl donning a burqa.

It is not a freedom of expression. Burqa is a sign of mind captivity, mind slavery, and snatching freedom of living this life happily. Ask this question to a neuroscientist. He will say the same.

No one wears a burqa by choice. These women think that they are following gods command or the prophets example. How come no non muslim women "choose" to wear a burqa. We as muslims should stop supporting this demeaning peace of clothing if we have any respect for our mothers,sisters, wiives and daughters.

This so called Boris should be setting an example to the British public regarding imigrations,instead he is setting BAD example by saying about Muslim women wearing BURKAS,what will happened if EDF start making comments regarding Muslim women.This man SHOULD apologise publicaly if not should be SACKED for his comments.This man is known for his outburst.Shut him before its too late.

When you say people have the right to dress any way they want (Barring obscene attire of course) then would it not be OK for men to wear a Burqa too? I mean really, would you go for that? Or because men go bare-chested at swimming pools and Spas shouldn't women be free to do the same? Or conversely, shouldn't men be required to wear a top garment covering their chests with besides their trunks? In any case I must say the visual of all men and women in UK wearing Burqa is definitely hilarious to me.. I am generally an ultra liberal in all sense of that phrase but I dare to opine that in today's world the burqa is definitely passe. Concealing your face conceals your identity, and this has many social and legal implications. I'd say Burqa wearers should be required to wear a government issued number plate in the front and the back just like those issued for autos, so they can be similarly traced in case they are involved in an illegal activity. They should also be barred from driving, or entering a bank or a store, all in the interest of public safety and law and order. Incidentally, if a man is wearing a burqa, is he doing something illegal? Could he be arrested?
