Last night was the 2018 Met Gala, arguably fashion's most highly anticipated night out and the celebrities did not disappoint.

Met Gala style is known to be outrageous; in the past celebs have dressed their wildest -- but how did our Bolly faves, Priyanka and Deepika fare on the red carpet?

This year's theme was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” designed to create a dialogue between fashion and the masterworks of religious art in the museum’s holdings.

Did the Bollywood stars push the boundaries on the red carpet and stay true to the theme? Take a look at what we thought about their individual looks:

Deepika Padukone

The Bollywood starlet wore a red Prabal Gaurang gown with a thigh high slit. Sexy? Yes. Met Gala worthy? No.

Deepika Padukone was SUPER SAFE (read: basic) at the event and we were wondering, why she didn't go with the theme like everyone else?

Celebs get one event to dress their wildest and Deeps decided she wanted to look fiery hot in a dress which is more suited for a film premiere or award shows

But this isn't the first time she chose to dress outside of the theme, even at last year's Met, the Padmavat star wore an oomph-less Tommy Hilfiger white dress which resembled a slip.

We wish she had learnt from her mistake. Deeps, for future Met events, take fashion advice from your beau Ranveer Singh, he'll help you look the part.

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka wore a Ralph Lauren wine-red velvet gown with a bejeweled hood. While we give props to Priyanka for sticking to the theme, the bejeweled hood falls a little too flat on her head and gives off more of a chain mail look.

The dress was definitely different from the trench coat complete with a cathedral train that inspired countless memes.

Priyanka rocked a pout matching her outfit and we approve of the berry tones but her chunky glitter eyeshadow doesn't sit well with us, or her eyes. It looks sloppy and weighs her look down the same way the medieval knight hood does.

That being said, we still think PC followed the theme a bit more closely; that's what the Met Gala is all about and at least this isn't basic!
