Honestly, a female Indiana 'Joan' Jones could be the female hero we all need!

In a a recent interview, director Steven Spielberg shared that casting a woman to play the iconic role of Indiana Jones could actually become a reality.

"We'd have to change the name from Jones to Joan and there would be nothing wrong with that," he said adding "I have been very lucky to be influenced by women, several of whom I have just loved madly — my mom and my wife."

Aside from the fact that it seems like Spielberg doesn't know how last names work, this is all very good news!

Harrison Ford has been the star of the franchise as Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones Jr, an archaeology professor since the first film, Raiders of the Lost Ark, hit theaters in 1981; the upcoming flick will be Ford's last.

But rest assured, the director has confirmed that "it will certainly continue after that."

Spielberg is gearing up for the fifth installment of the franchise, scheduled to be released in 2020.
