Good news for Pakistani music lovers — Apple Music has finally arrived in the country, a full 11 years after its global launch.

Apple made the update to its ‘Availability of Apple Media Services’ tab on Wednesday, according to which Apple Music is now officially listed as available in Pakistan.

The service launched globally in 2015 with more than 100 countries included in its initial rollout.

The subscription pricing for Pakistani users is now available in the Apple Music app. An Individual plan, which offers unlimited music for one person, costs Rs379 per month. For families, the Family plan is priced at Rs649 per month and covers multiple users. Both plans begin with a one-month free trial, after which they automatically renew on a monthly basis.

Apple Music Classical — which is a separate service — isn’t available in Pakistan yet.

This isn’t the first time a major streaming platform has taken its sweet time to reach Pakistani shores. Spotify, which launched in 2008, didn’t arrive in Pakistan until 2021 — a wait of 13 long years.

For years, Pakistani music fans had to jump through hoops just to listen to their favourite songs — switching regions, borrowing foreign accounts or simply giving up. Now, they can just tap subscribe and hit play. Whether Apple Music wins over Spotify loyalists or not, one thing is clear: after 11 years of waiting, Pakistani listeners finally have a proper choice. And that’s a win for music lovers everywhere.
