Nobel Prize winner and education activist Malala Yousufzai has returned to Pakistan today to attend a special ceremony to mark her achievements as an activist for girls education.

Her impending trip was kept tightly under wraps for security reasons, so her admirers at home were surprised to learn that she has returned this morning.

Twitter had a mix of reactions to the news of Malala's arrival in Pakistan.

Some kept their welcome messages short and sweet:

Some couldn't believe she's back in Pakistan:

Others wished her a safe trip:

A few had a message for her haters:

Some got a little extra emotional:

Malala is accompanied on her trip by her father Ziauddin Yousufzai, Malala Fund CEO Farah Mohamed and Amirobyn Thompson. Sources said Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi would receive Malala at the PM Office; however, the rest of her itinerary has been kept secret.

Welcome home Malala! Still waiting for the transformation in girls education which west was supposed to bring through Malala struggle. (Note! I am not a hater of Malala. I am big big fan of Malala and admire her courage. But like everyone I want to see the progress for she has stood and for which she has been supported by west)
