Adnan Siddiqui's message to his kids is a crucial reminder for everyone in this digital age

Once again, Adnan Siddiqui is giving us the feels!

The Sammi actor, who's a dedicated father, took to Facebook to write a heartfelt note to his three kids, Maryam, Daniya and Zayd, complete with an anecdote from his childhood.

"I was sixteen when your dadi jaan passed away. She was very ill, in acute pain, and I remember going to the hospital, standing by the door as they pumped her stomach, knowing she was slipping away. She turned her head to the left, where I stood, and smiled with her eyes. She then closed her eyes. For the last time.

Decades have passed. But that moment remains, to date, one of the most painful and most formative of my life. After Ammi died, your taayas and phuphos rallied around, like an army of soldiers, to look after Uzi phupho, Ayesha phupho and me--the youngest three. We grew up playing cricket in the streets--young, old, fat, thin, bespectacled, sporty, the whole lot," he wrote.

He recalled the simple bliss of playing on the streets: "I used to play imaginary cricket. The cricketer: Adnan Siddiqui. The commentator: Adnan Siddiqui. Fielder: Adnan Siddiqui. Bowler: Adnan Siddiqui.

"And it's a six. What a beautiful shot! Hitting it out of the park!

"Aaaand here comes Siddiqui. What a natural out-swinger. What a smooth run-up!

"He's caught it! And he's out! The relief, the joy! Siddiqui never misses a catch!

"Those were good days because they were simple days. The grief of Ammi's death was dulled, slowly sweated out as I bounced and ran on the streets of Karachi. I was lucky to be surrounded by a big family."

The always articulate Siddiqui concluded with this little important reminder: "This is just a little note to say that I know you love your ipads and ipods and play stations, but I want you to also love your parks, your books, your streets. They can be your friends too.

"It's a shame that our streets are not as safe as they once were. It's a shame the three of you can't hold hands and walk serenely out of the house. It's a shame, indeed, that the Karachi of my childhood has disappeared as skyscrapers and multiplexes have come to dominate the skyline."

He added, "But you can still read books. Just as I used to play imaginary cricket in four different voices, I want you to live inside the pages of your books. The truth is, people who talk to themselves aren't stupid: they're the opposite--creative and wild and beautiful. Just like the three of you. Love, Abba."

We're not crying, you're crying!

Kids mustn't see IPad or likes for more than 1 hour. If they see more their eyes, minds, and habit affected, they becomes hyper, rather crazy.

Good passionate display of feelings for his kids. But, the kids today feel in entirely a different way. They consider us old-timers lost generation with many generations of gap in between. They are much more friendly with their cyber-life more at home with their gadgets than their parents.

As a father he has given a truthful advise to his three kids. You can still use all the technology you have but you also need to have solid imagination. You can be book smart but you also have to be street smart. The reason streets and parks are not safe any more because of these old preachers who spoil the minds of the young kids with hate . Let the kids be the kids let them discover the world for them selves.

I soon realised the mistake I made by hiding away all the gadgets in my house. It takes a lot to get your kids out on the street or park or to do some activity somewhere, you will have to get involved. Don't let your kids waist their childhood.

with the passing time things are getting changed . everything is now more money oriented and so is the kids psychology being changed un knowingly . kids try to be entertained all the time with their gadgets and a major cause is deviation from true religious self.

This is what every child today is needing ! Fulfilling every possible wish isn't the way of showing love rather telling them to value the values is the need of time... great job AS !

Thank you for sharing this. Social media is full of such sermons from parents/older generations. Challenge is implementing it. Interestingly, even Adnan Siddiqui is using Facebook to convey the message!!! It will help if the article mentioned whether the said Actor shares atleast one daily meal with his children? And if gadgets are allowed/disallowed when having this meal.

My all time favorite actor and inspired from his thoughts. We should encourage our kids to spare time with books and nature to learn the true things. Definitely Ipads and Ipods have destroyed our family time... seems no attachment between family members.
