Karachi is home to foodies but what do you do when you're on a budget but want to binge?

Dawn decided to take on the challenge of eating out all day within a budget of Rs1000. And just so you know, we wanted to stuff our faces!

From the basic brekki, lunch, dinner to snacks and desserts, we made sure that our foodventure doesn't cost us a rupee over Rs1000.

And guess what? We still managed to save Rs2! How bout a Softmint to end the day?

Rs. 1,000 per day/person is quite an amount in Pakistan..!! Comes upto 30,000 in a month which is gross salary to many.

On Rs1,000 a day it is quite possible to feast two people in some style. I think you need to get more real. A challenge should be how to feast on Rs200 would be more practical and it can also be done.

Madam, it is so unhealthy to eat out so much - that too in one day! Some of the places did not look very hygienic as well - in terms of the cooking ingredients!

You could very well have Rs 1000 to enjoy a meal. But you may not have enough to pay some security guards to accompany you to enjoy your meal in Karachi's lawless environs. Sad, if you have to hire private security guards for your family to simply go out for a meal.

Of all the places visited in this video, if you ever witnessed how the food is prepared under unhygienic conditions, you may think twice before eating any...

Barring the lunch and perhaps coconut water, all that she ate were junk. Starting the day with an oily parantha and an oily omelette is a absolute no for many . Worldwide people are deviating from their social/local food to more healthy alternatives

All the places represented in this video essentially are 'street food' vendors. Which hardly surprises me will feed an entire family for a day. Anywhere in the Third world, be it Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore, Cairo, you could manage to feed yourself for mere $10 a day. But the quality will vary.

@akber_eh This isn't mean't to be standard daily food, for that nothing is cheaper than cooking at home. Its more of a weekend food splurge in which you are willing to spend Rs 1000 to eat the best food you can find in Karachi.

If it's eating that you do all day, better to go to "10" diff Dhabas @ Rs100/- each, spend an hour at each spot. Wallah 10 hours gone, go for an "8" hours sleep and about "2" hours for ablutions, 24-hours finished. Repeat it the next day and the following days...Happy Mealing :)

Spending Rs.1000 in one day on food is a luxury in Pakistan. Challenge would be, if someone can eat one day's food in under Rs. 100, a lot of people in Karachi, do that everyday.

For about $10-12 you can have breakfast, lunch & dinner and maybe ice cream ie @ fast food, in America. Rs1000 in Pakistan is a lot money to spend on food a day and not a challenge.

In Jalandhar we are getting unlimited buffet B'fast = Rs.80/-, Lunch and Dinner = Rs. 110/- (Vegetarian only). Also in a good quality 3-4* hotel Unlimited Non Veg Buffet for Rs. 250/- (Total 36 items including sweet dishes). I think Rs. 1000/- per day is too high for a middle class man.

The challenge isn't cheap food or food that is tasty. It's food that is both cheap and doesn't make you sick. Eating the things depicted in this video is liable to cause you food poisoning.
