SRK suggests T20 series between Kolkata Knight Riders and Peshawar Zalmi: Javed Afridi
Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan on Thursday congratulated Peshawar Zalmi's owner Javed Afridi for winning the Pakistan Super League final that was played in Lahore on March 5.
Talking about his conversation with Khan, Afridi said, "Shah Rukh congratulated me and suggested a T20 series between Kolkata Knight Riders and Peshawar Zalmi."
Shah Rukh Khan owns the Kolkata Knight Riders, two time champions of the Indian Premier League.
Optimistic about the prospects of such a series Afridi added, "If the government of both countries allow it, the matches can be played on a neutral venue like England or United Arab Emirates."
However, according to Kolkata Knight Riders' official Twitter handle, these are "false reports" and no such exchange took place.
Javed Afridi also took to Twitter to clarify the news stating that there is no truth to it.
Earlier, on Wednesday Afridi had accepted an invitation from Afghan President Ashraf Ghani's for the Zalmis to visit Kabul in the summer this year.
In an earlier interview with DawnNews, Zalmi's owner Javed Afridi had said that his franchise's dynamic is completely different than any of the other teams participating in PSL.
In an attempt to share their happiness this year, the franchise had flown a group of children from the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital to Dubai, to watch the opening ceremony and some of the PSL matches in Dubai.
Last year, they collaborated with Shahid Afridi, one of the highest profile stars in the Zalmi squad, to take 150 children from the Army Public School — the site of a horrific terrorist attack in 2014 — to the Pakistan Super League’s first edition, also held in Dubai.
