Legendary Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar has been quietly involved in a legal squabble about a bounced cheque, his wife Saira Bano revealed on Twitter yesterday.

And the 94-year-old actor has just been pronounced 'not guilty' by a Mumbai court. Although Dilip sahab was required to be present at court for the hearing, he was excused for health reasons.

Saira Banu had used her husband's Twitter handle before the hearing to inform his fans of the hearing:

She also sought their prayers and revealed that Dilip sahab was suffering from neurological problems:

The case involved a Kolkata-based business named GK Exim India Private Limited, where he was honorary chairman back in 1998. Dilip sahab was implicated in the case, along with three other directors. The court today absolved Dilip sahab and another accused of all charges and held two directors 'guilty.'

@Samad Chaudhry London It's not politics. Dilip Sahaab was Chairman of a company that bounced cheques worth several crores. Law applies to all equally. I'm glad that he was not charged. Indians revere Dilip Sahaab.

@Samad Chaudhry London It is called the Rule of Law where mighty and the weak are equal before the law. One is innocent until proven guilty. I am glad that the characteristically, and horribly long process has come to an end. The innocent has been exonerated. That is good news.

Why is everything looked at through religious lenses in Pakistan. It was a commercial law issue which was handled through a proper judicial process.

S0 all these three individuals have done wonders for the film industry of India but since they are muslims this is what they get as a reward. Shame on the industry which has been performing wonders due these individuals. Wish they live their lives happy after this .

@mohib khan - What Muslims; and which three are you referring to ? Don't forget that Muslim actors like Dilip Kumar; Sharukh Khan........are all made what they are today, primarily by Indian fans and Indian cinema viewers who just do not distinguish religion but applaud & recognize good performance. A humble request to all as to not get unnecessary religion involved here. LONG LIVE DILIP SAHEB > INDIANS ARE YOUR FANS AND WE ALL PRAY FOR YOUR HEALTH; WELL BEING & HAPPY LIFE.

@mohib khan . Dilip Kumar was recently rewarded with Padma Vibhusan award at his home in Mumbai. You are mixing reward with company's legal matter.

It is worth noting that several of the comments are farthest from the points of convergence across the two sides of the border: the unquestionable popularity of mega star Dileep Kumar and fact that the court pronouncing him 'not guilty' (albeit it took eighteen years to do so). The greater focus is, however, to pivot the differences. And then, some believe, that that the peoples' heart are closer than the bureaucratic offices of the two nations. Let's keep hoping for the better.

Looks like naive and lack of experience people are working in government office, they do not know how to make laws for their citizens. Just giving them hard time for no reason. and make their life miserable for 18 years. Total ignorance.

@Sanjiv Datt It is not inappropriate to link DK with Pak film industry. Some films released just before or after Partition in which DK had the leading role were produced and directed by those who then migrated to Lahore to be associated with Pak Industry. And of course DK originated from Peshawar and is also recepiant of highest Civil award by the Pak government.
