Drama Neelum Kinarey highlights the hidden beauty of Kashmir: Gohar Mumtaz
After starting off with Tanhai, Gohar Mumtaz the lead singer of Jal the band has bagged another HUM TV project titled Neelum Kinarey.
Written by 2014 Lux Style Awards winner Amna Mufti, Neelum Kinarey has been shot in picturesque Kashmir's Neelum valley with flowing streams and lush plains. Directed by Adnan Wai Qureshi, the drama is produced by Momina Duraid and Mahroz Karim.
Other actors included in the drama are two veteran actors Samina Ahmad and Naeem Tahir, Ushna Shah, Sumbal and Affan Waheed with the ladies playing Kashmiri women as it appears from their traditional attire.
Talking to Images, Gohar who plays a young man named Ijaz, spoke about his role and has said that the drama will indeed be a 'treat for all': "It was a great experience working with a top-notch production house like MD productions which decided to take the risk to change the screen of Pakistani drama by shooting the play in Kashmir. Shooting right in front of Neelum valley — beautiful scenery with traditional houses, wearing traditional Kashmiri dresses was an amazing experience. Adnan, the director executed the feel of play beautifully."
"I am sure it will be a treat for all the viewers to watch the beauty of Kashmir, which has never been shown to the drama viewers. I had a great experience working with the legendary Samina Peerzada (my mother in the play) and Naeem Tahir (my father in the play) . Having them on board to do the role of my parents was a class, which will be the cherry on the cake for this play," he also shared.
It seems that following the scenic beauty in Diyar-e-Dil, the viewers will be pleasantly surprised to see a similar setting albeit from an area seldom given coverage in mainstream dramas.
Neelum Kinarey will soon be aired on HUM TV.
