Is Twitter really shutting down?

Elon Musk's vision for Twitter 2.0 led to mass resignation and users expect the site to come crashing down very soon — cue the memes.
18 Nov, 2022

Twitter is currently a fully induced panic room and users are saying their goodbyes, expecting the site to crash at any time. While many await a potential shutdown, others, late to the party, just want to know what is going on. No worries, we got you.

On Thursday, the company experienced a huge turnover after a large chunk of its employees decided to call it quits. Why? Because Twitter CEO Elon Musk had a vision for “Twitter 2.0” and it required “long hours at high intensity”. They were given an ultimatum to get with the new “extremely hardcore” version or to leave with severance pay. And so 42 per cent of 180 people chose the answer “Taking exit option, I’m free!”

The temporary shutdown of Twitter headquarters and the withdrawal of essential employees has netizens worried that there will be no one to regulate the system and fix the bugs. Especially considering the employee version of the site began slowing down and sources estimate the public version was at risk of breaking.

Though users are genuinely concerned about their favourite app ceasing to exist, they’re still tweeting in good humour. They have turned to the global coping mechanism and made many memes to make the upsetting situation more digestible. Even Musk has joined the fun.

Former minister and avid Twitter user Fawad Chaudhry cannot do without Twitter and is asking the Tesla CEO to stop giving him goosebumps.

Instagram has decided to sympathise though we feel like this meme is how they really feel.

Well, it looks like we have a backup plan.

It’s time.

Sometimes, things go from bad to worse.

If this is true, the employees really wanted to go out with a bang.

See you on the other side… or another app.

Time to turn back to the good ol’ days.

New life hack just dropped.

How are you feeling about Twitter potentially shutting down?

Who really cares about a social media platform ? What a waste of time and space. I think the world has other problems to deal with than the daily antics of Elon musk.

In the great universe in which we all live, this is truly nothing of importance! Twitter, Facebook, Tic Tock, and all other social media on the internet exist as small bits of code sent electronically. The pyramids of ancient Egypt, and Central America were built without Social Media. The great thinkers of antiquity did not rely on Social Media to formulate their ideas. They relied on critical thinking and personal action and interaction with others. True, Social media is a useful tool, but ask anyone in skilled trades and most will tell you that tools usually wear out and are replaceable. So it will probably be with Twitter. If it dies, may it “Rest in Peace.”

Twitter is not going to shut down whether temporarily or permanently, otherwise, Elon Musk would have not purchased it at the very first instance. What I guess is that Elon Musk is going to go for changes right from the scratch and appoint new people on reduced salaries and cut over all expenses It a lesson for those new employees who want to be inducted in gigantic companies for the sake that they will continue to work for such companies until the employees want to leave on their own. It is sad that twitter is laying off its old and experienced employees but the size of employees is so big that Elon Musk have left no alternate, except to retrench twitter employees. It is likely that in very near future several companies would launch their services similar to twitter as people involved in electronic media services must be brainstorming how to launch new similar companies to grab the falk out of twitters clients and expericed employees in orders to run independent businesses.
