Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha expected to be removed from cinemas six days after premiere

On Tuesday, most of the cinema shows for the film were cancelled and if this continues, the film could be removed due to its low performance at the box office.

Bollywood’s Aamir Khan and his recent film Laal Singh Chaddha have been in the news for all the wrong reasons. After landing in controversy, the film’s performance at the box office has been dipping significantly, due to which the film could be removed from cinemas a mere six days after releasing.

The Indian Express reported that the film’s business at the ticket counter fell by 85 per cent and, according to Bollywood Hungama, Laal Singh Chaddha earned INR 460 million in its first four days and then in the range of INR 18.5 million to INR 21.5 million on its fifth day, bringing its total collection to INR 480 million. The overall collection is less than Khan’s last release Thugs of Hindostan which also plummeted at the box office.

The Indian media portal reported that on Tuesday almost 70 per cent of Laal Singh Chaddha shows were cancelled. It also reported that if this repeats for a couple of more days, the film will be pulled from theatres.

The film is touted as the official remake of Tom hanks’ Forrest Gump and has reportedly been made out of a budget of INR 1.8 billion but unfortunately has been rejected by Indian audiences as they have been campaigning to boycott the film for allegedly disrespecting Hindu sentiments and the Indian army.

Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan isn’t far behind. Released on the same day as Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s film, Kumar’s latest silver screen offering also failed to impress Indian audiences as per media reports. Raksha Bandhan is displaying downward trends at the box office as well.

Aamir Khan feels unsafe in India. Someone who is loved and adored by millions of Indians should be the LAST person to say such things. I decided to boycott this movie for that is my right. This is how peaceful protests are done - by NOT SEEING a movie, NOT READING a book rather than banning something just because it does not fit in our world view.

Covid is still very much here and lot of people prefer to watch Bollywood movies on OTT platforms apart from illegal free online streaming. Doesn't mean the movie didn't make money because OTT rights are sold even before theatrical release. Amir Khan is a top actor.

How about some original content, Bollywood has been copying for so long. Religious sentiments should be respected and army potrayal should be respectful. After covid, content is also important.

Nothing to do with khan or akshay, the people have rejected copywood in general. They prefer south indian movies which are wholesome, family friendly and has great and talented non nepotism actors and actress. Plus South indian movies has always great music. Better than copywood any day.

The Indian nation has declared "We won't take it any more." The patriots have figured out that the best way to punish the guilty is to hit the traitors in the pocket book where it hurts the most.

The film is a bad adaptation - that's why it flopped. It has nothing to do with "Hindu sentiments". The same audience loved PK, a well-made film. LSC is a disaster that should never have been made.

Must respect reality. People did not like the movie, whatever the reason. Film is made for audience , if they feel offended that means film maker oughtta take responsibility. Amir has given blockbusters , there can’t be any bias against him.

Films succeed and flop as it is the nature of the showbiz. What I wonder is Aamir Khan's mindset and his loss of creativity. From Lagaan to Thugs and now Gump. He deserves to be Dumped; till he comes back with an original.
