BBC has revealed its list for '100 novels that shaped our world' and we spotted the works of some famous Pakistani authors.

Authors Mohsin Hamid and Kamila Shamsie have made it onto the list that features writers from around the world along with Bapsi Sidhwa.

Shamsie's Home Fire is in the 'Politics, Power & Protest' category while Hamid's novel The Reluctant Fundamentalist joins the 'Crime & Conflict' category. Sidhwa's Ice Candy Man also features in the same category as Hamid's.

BBC's list ranges from classics to contemporary, with works like Jane Austin's Pride & Prejudice and JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings series making it in their own genres.

The panel of experts that curated this list included Radio 4 Front Row presenter and Times Literary Supplement editor Stig Abell, broadcaster Mariella Frostrup, authors Juno Dawson, Kit de Waal and Alexander McCall Smith, and Bradford Festival Literary Director Syima Aslam.

Majority of "our " world is illiterate let alone being influenced b some fancy authors. Sorry can't see their influence beyond some air-conditioned drawing rooms.

CONGRATULATIONS! Walking on the steps of gaint like Jane Austin and JRR Tolkien certainly gives both the artist full right of Pride without any Prejudice. I am bit surprised by the nomination of "The Reluctant Fundamentalist" in the catagory 'Crime & Conflict'. For sure the novel revealy many conflicts but - as far as I understood - hardly any crime.

Indeed both are game changers with their counter narratives within contemporary literature. Well done! More of these voices are needed.
