Zimbabwe versus Pakistan is no ordinary T20 match — it’s haunted by emotional scars left by Pak Bean
While Pakistan and Zimbabwe were gearing up for their T20 World Cup match on Thursday, Zimbabweans were ready to unleash a fire they had been nursing for six years — a fire that goes by the name of Pak Bean revenge.
In 2016, Pakistani comedian Asif Mohammad, a Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean) look-alike, arrived in Zimbabwe for a comedy night held at the Harare International Conference. We may not have been aware of it, but since then we have been embroiled in a deep-rooted rivalry. Zimbabweans apparently hold a grudge against us for sending them a copy instead of the original. Thankfully, they are only calling us out for this “fraud” on Twitter instead of ‘suing’ us. They are asking us to be wary on the cricket field because this is no ordinary cricket match — the Zimbabwean players will avenge them.
They have dropped down under the PCB’s tweet sending us a very ‘subtle’ warning so we know what’s up.
Here’s a visual so you understand the essence of this betrayal.
Pakistani fans are sorry and as a gesture of goodwill, they have decided to send over two national treasures from both Hollywood and Bollywood — the Professor from Money Heist and Shah Rukh Khan.
It’s truly not your fault Zimbabwe — no one believes Mr Bean when he says he’s Mr Bean.
We have to warn our own though.
Perhaps as the official mascot?
The stories we’ll tell the generations to come!
Who do you think is going to win today? Will Zimbabwe exact their revenge and beat us or will Pak Bean be our good luck charm for the match?
