Motorcycle Girl, the 2018 biographical film based on the life of motorcyclist Zenith Irfan, is set to open the Pakistan Film Festival in Jordan, the movie’s director Adnan Sarwar announced on social media.

The festival, which will take place from January 24 to 26 in Amman, is organised by the Royal Film Commission of Jordan and the Pakistani Embassy in Jordan.

Other movies that will feature at the festival are Nayab (2024) directed by Umair Nasir Ali and Bin Roye (2015) directed by Momina Duraid and Shahzad Kashmiri.

According to the Royal Film Commission, Motorcycle Girl is inspired by the boundary-breaking motorcycle journeys of Irfan who, at 20 years of age, was the first Pakistani woman to travel solo through the northern regions of Pakistan.

The film won the Best Actress (Critics’ Choice) Award at the 18th Lux Style Awards.

Nayab, starring Yumna Zaidi and Usama Khan, is a coming-of-age sports movie which followed a middle-class girl, fuelled by fiery passion, dreaming of making it big in the competitive world of cricket.

Bin Roye, featuring an ensemble cast led by Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed, is a romantic drama film based on the novel Bin Roye Ansoo by Farhat Ishtiaq.

The Commission, on its official Instagram handle, said all three films will be screened in Urdu with English subtitles, while Nayab and Motorcycle Girl will also have Arabic subtitles.

The festival will take place at the Rainbow Theatre in Jordan’s capital, and audiences can enter for free with no reservation required.
