The first London Pakistani Film Festival to kick off in October

Five feature films and two dramas have been officially selected for the festival.

The first London Pakistani Film Festival (LPFF), an annual event specifically conceived to celebrate Pakistani films and dramas, is set to be inaugurated on October 1, in London.

The festival is a four-day event scheduled to be held at the HMS Wellington Ship (October 1), Rich Mix Cinema and Queen Mary University (October 2), Rich Mix Cinema and Garden Cinema (October 3), and closes at the Barbican Cinema (October 4).

Official feature film selections include the Humanyun Saeed, Mehwish Hayat’s London Nahi Jaunga, Sarmad Sultan Khoosat’s extended director’s cut of Zindgai Tamasha, Yumna Zaidi’s Nayab, romance-drama anthology Teri Meri Kahaniyaan starring Sheheryar Munawar, Hayat, Wahaj Ali, Ramasha Khan, Zahid Ahmed, and the Fawad Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Mahira Khan blockbuster The Legend of Maula Jatt.

Official drama selections include the upcoming Zindagi originals Farrar, directed by Mehreen Jabbar, starring Sarwat Gilani, Mariam Saleem and Maha Hasan, and The Pink Shirt directed by Kashif Nisar, starring Sajal Aly, Wahaj Ali and Sania Saeed.

Submissions for films and dramas are now open via LPFF’s website and FilmFreeway.

LPFF, a project of Positive Action Through Creativity (PAC) — a UK-registered charity, was founded by Assad Khan and co-foundeded by Mansur Ali and Shoaib Qureshi.

LPFF’s jury includes veteran actor Hameed Sheikh, director Mehreen Jabbar, film critic and filmmaker Kamran Jawaid, cinematographer and director Farhan Alam, and filmmakers Raaj Rahhi, Max Shaukat, Kay Ram, Mehnaz Alavi Diwan, and Qais Quraishi.

The advisory board includes veteran producer Satish Anand, celebrated actor and producer Humayun Saeed, distributor and producer Nadeem Manadviwalla, London-based journalist E Nina Rothe, Joe Mirza and Hassan Zuberi.

Jawaid (through his film production and distribution company, Anthem Films) also serves as the festival’s director, while Geo TV is the official media partner.
