A video of an accident involving actor Angeline Malik at Seaview on August 28 went viral on social media, prompting the police to issue a clarification on Friday that the matter was resolved amicably between the actor and the complainant.

South DIG Syed Asad Raza said that the actor was driving her double cabin vehicle when its tyre burst on Seaview Road near Nishan-i-Pakistan on Wednesday evening. She lost control of the vehicle and hit a rickshaw and car. As a result, the rickshaw driver suffered minor injuries while both cars sustained minor damages, according to the police.

The DIG said a mob gathered there as ‘sensitivity’ has heightened after the Karsaz accident in which a man and his young daughter were killed by woman driving an SUV. Video footage of Malik’s incident showed a mob forming around her vehicle, opening her doors and grabbing her mobile phone. In the footage, Malik repeatedly asks the crowd for her phone back and members of the mob call for her to get out of the vehicle.

The police office said the authorities rushed to the spot and controlled the situation. He said both parties were brought to the Darakshan police station where they reached a compromise, thus the matter was resolved “amicably”.

“The complainant rickshaw driver did not press charges against the actor as she paid compensation for damages and treatment of injuries,” said DIG Raza. No case was registered.

Excellent resolution. Let us create a fund to compensate victims on the spot and minimise unnecessary police cases.

I wish people could also take notice of the accidents caused by reckless drivers on main highways. This media attention is due to perceived richness of people involved.

Besides the tyre age, majority of the bursts are caused due to under inflation. An under inflated tyre will bulge out under your car's weight causing it to bounce up and down when driven at high speed. This causes high friction... All driver be careful about your vehicle safety before leaving the space

Mob culture is there because police is customery- police has no role in our society - they are there to make money as whole station is available for bid and all the uniform guys bid to be placed and make profit- politician are brokers and political party heads the beneficiaries- Going on for years atleast in Urban Sindh- There is no voice to demolish police and lets have peace without them. There is too much work needs to be done I dont know who will do it ? And when? There is too much tussle everywhere - Nothing is working in this country- I sensed it 32 years back when army started their operation in my city and left - It has gone down since then and now soon tonbe vanished with everyone living.

There was only material damage. No lives were lost or any permanent damage. But imagine if 6 people were ran over by a reckless entitled driver? Case in point is Karzas. There is no justice in a society riddled with corruption where the rich and powerful get away with everything.
