Actor Omair Rana’s upcoming short film Ehsaas is an imaginative tale of a couple whose relationship will be put through a challenge upon encountering a stranger.

A Panache Prime Original, it is produced by Studio Vision Films, directed by Jasim Abbas and written by Adeel PK. The short film was released on March 26 and is available on the Panache Prime YouTube channel.

Ehsaas is a story about a husband and wife who have been “brought to a circumstance where their relationship will be tested, both individually and collectively”, the Kamli actor told Images.

“Will they survive? Will they not survive? Will they settle? Will they not settle? Will they compromise? Will they not compromise?… What will they do?” he said.

Rana plays the character of “an unknown person who has come to the couple’s place” and causes “waves and ruffles the feathers” after which the couple’s relationship is put to the “ultimate test”.

“The script was refreshing,” the Dukhtar actor highlighted. “You will hear this a lot by a lot of television actors who are going on to work on [digital] platforms of various kinds,” he said.

“Refreshing essentially means being offbeat [compared] to the bored, tried, mundane, frankly, regular commercial opportunities that one actor is offered,” he said. “This is offbeat.”

The cast was another factor that lured Rana toward the film. “I had never worked with Ahmad Taha,” he said before adding, “One of the great excitements was for me to work with Sonia Mishal.”

“Barring the exhaustion, the work was fine, the work was good. The challenges of working with an animal or a child are always there but this time we didn’t have a child, but we did have a cat,” Rana described his experience while shooting.

The short film also features Ahmad Taha and Sonia Mishal.
