The Telegu language hit film RRR has bagged Best Original Song at the Golden Globes but lost Best Non-English-language Picture to Argentina, 1985. It is the first ever Indian film to win an award at the Globes and came out ahead of Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and director-songwriter Guillermo del Toro.

The movie’s official Twitter account is touting the win as Asia’s first song to win a Golden Globe.

The award show that took place on Tuesday saw composer-songwriter MM Keeravani of viral sensation ‘Naatu Naatu’ accept the Golden Globe, presented by Jenna Ortega. Keeravani thanked his lyricists, arranger, family and director-writer SS Rajamouli while receiving the award.

According to Variety, backstage at the Globes, Keeravani said, “I feel amused, thrilled, excited. I feel I am very grateful to the universe.”

Talking more about the song ‘Naatu Naatu,’ he explained that it’s a “song of celebration” and that the creators wanted to showcase stamina and energy in the song.

Best Film — Drama was bagged by The Fabelmans while The Banshees of Inisherin won for musical and comedy. House of the Dragon won Best TV Series — Drama while Abbott Elementary won best musical or comedy.

Best Limited Series category was awarded to The White Lotus, Best Actor in TV Series to Kevin Costner of Yellowstone and Best Actor in a limited series to Evan Peters of Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. The most anticipated awards of Best Actor and Actress were bagged by Austin Butler for Elvis and Michelle Yeoh for Everything Everywhere All at Once. Zendaya also won the Best Actress in the TV series category for her show Euphoria.

The song is just like from any typical south Indian filmi song and the only reason it got the prize was because it was filmed using the President of Ukraine's house as the background and currently there's a war going on for almost 10 months.

@ENGR Hamid Shafiq What kind of a logic is that? I can understand if you didn't like the movie. But graphics vs reality? Its all the more difficult to pull off if graphics is involved. Movies made by Nolan, Cameron, DC or Marvel wouldn't have made any impact if VFX was not involved. Take Pakistan movie itself - The Legend of Maula Jatt. You think VFX was not involved? Just do a google search. Give credit where it is due.

Those Pakistanis who are congratulating RRR for the Golden Globe, are the same ones who are criticizing their homemade Joyland for the Oscars. What hypocrisy!
