Ushna Shah reveals ‘industry secret’, says most people in it are frauds

Calling most things "illusions", she said they are a result of PR and strategically set narratives.

Actor Ushna Shah experienced a “breakfast epiphany” recentlyand what better place to share it than on Twitter, the land of floating thoughts? The actor let her followers in on a secret, as she called it, claiming that most people in the industry are fake.

On Monday, she talked about how things are not always as they appear. “Can I tell you guys an industry secret? Most people in it are frauds. Most things are an illusion. When there is a lot of hype there is often (not always) less talent to back it up. It’s smoke and mirrors. It’s PR. It’s set narratives. The crowd follows where it’s strategically led,” she wrote in a tweet.

Under the same tweet, she shared a part two explaining that this viewpoint of hers is not just limited to the entertainment industry but applies to society at large. “This was just a random breakfast epiphany that fraud isn’t just a thing, it’s almost everything and it has seeped into all forms of show business be it films, TV, ‘humanitarian work’ or sports. The ratio of scams to authenticity is.. sad and a bit demoralising,” she said.

She isn’t the first celebrity to talk about the change needed in the industry. Actor Zara Noor Abbas brought up the blatant sexism that treats her different than her male costars, actor Sabeeka Imam called out nepotism in the entertainment industry setting unfair advantages for some, model Eman Suleman held the entertainment industry accountable for letting sexual harassers get away with it without any repercussions and actor Komal Rizvi said she is inspired by no one in the industry because money is what controls them all, they would endorse anything for money.

Komal Rizvi said she is inspired by no one in the industry because money is what controls them all, they would endorse anything for money. They dont realise, they have to leave it behind in this world. Sincereity has more value.

Please she is an actress and not an actor . Regretfully , fraud is everywhere nowadays. People who really want to do good face tremendous problems and alienation.

This isn't a secret, everyone knows most people in the entertainment industry are not only frauds but munafiqs. The recent case of a certain celebrity getting exposed cheating on her fiancee is one of multiple such cases.

This is true for most if not all industries and almost all professions. That being said, you will still find enough bold and true gems. Some of those will be discovered long after they have left this earth. Starving artist is not just a phrase it is the living reality of most in the entertainment industry where the career mortality is business as usual. With such high risks ordinary citizens look for more sure economic activity e.g. engineering, medicine, civil service etc. You have a far greater chance to be recognized for your talent there than in the appearance industry i.e. television, movies, videos, TikTok, YouTube etc.

Very mature for her young age. Her unravelling of secrets behind the curtains is an elucidation, especially for the striving youths!

i can 100% agree, the most talented actors in Lahore get no work. But rich kids with money and PR and no talent get all the acting roles on TV.

It’s interesting how these TV showbiz untalented folks keep the other uneducated populace so busy with stupid nonsense such as this tweet stuff. Get a life people.

This drama industry no where. Fake or real does not matter. Same stories again. Crying woman, abusive man, muzloom parents, rich and poor — go beyond that kind of stories. I am watching your “Habas” drama. Nothing there to watch. My wife is your fan but no story.

What else do you expect from an industry that sells fantasy and dreams? Everything is fake on the silver screen. Since ancient times drama was for the nobility. But cinema is for the lower classes. Fake people are to be expected here.

If I feel fraud everywhere in my life circle than I suggest myself to reserve in safe theme to live accordingly. Dear famous lady Ushna: please do not encourage your mind to live with speed of mischievous entertainment . Control the basic things of life or loose the funny environment of industry. Example: (play with wild bull, it will definitely hit yourself. It is a game of funs & madness as well).
